Exercise 03: Type Anatomy & Classification

Created infographics that classified the different anatomy of different typefaces. This is achieved by stacking letterforms in various hues and shades and then diagram the properties of each typeface.

Reasoning & Approach:

For my two compositions I decided to create one that focused on sans-serif fonts and the other focusing on serif fonts. I thought that this would be the most effective way to showcase the slight differences that are seen within the different categories of these typefaces.

For both compositions I chose different fonts throughout history, this displays how these styles evolve into having more subcategories that are both big and small differences.

For my color selection I chose color palettes that I thought represented the overall genre of the font styles. For example I view sans-serifs to be more youthful and less serious, so I chose a vibrant color palette. And for serif fonts, I view those to be more elegant and pristine, so I chose a color palette that would represent those concepts.
